The Connection Between The Chinese And Japanese Language

Some students asked me about the Japanese and Chinese language . Both them looks so curious and hard to learn, If it has any relationship. Actually,Japanese writing evolved from Chinese writing.

Long time ago, Japan used the Chinese writing system, but after time they developed their own writing systems – katakana, hiragana and kanji.  Kanji is based on Chinese characters and some characters have the same meaning  in both languages, but katakana and hiragana are completely different and separate from Chinese. The characters do not represent ideas as in Chinese and Kanji, but sounds/syllables.

But the two spoken languages Chinese and Japanese are completely different and totally unrelated.
