The New Practical Chinese Reader series takes extensive CSL research conducted at Beijing Language and Culture University and interprets into a compact, well-designed text that’s suitable for University level classes, but may be to sophisticated for the high school level. Each lesson includes detailed grammatical analysis and useful tips for reading and writing Chinese. Overall a solid beginner’s textbook.
